Kittens with crooked legs are fitted with tiny casts to help them grow strong and healthy
The names of the six baby kittens rescued from the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys by the Los Angeles-based charity Kitten Rescue are Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot, Chianti, Burgundy, and Malbec, not wine. The kittens had been born three weeks before they were saved. As soon as they arrived to Kitten Rescue, the caretakers noticed that their front legs appeared to be bent.
They were promptly brought to ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City, where they see a trusted bone and joint expert on a regular basis.

However, the kittens were diagnosed with carpal laxity syndrome, which is more common in pups. According to the physician, the disorder’s causes are unknown, although it is thought to be the result of an imbalance in growth rates between the bones and tendons of the front limbs.

As a result, each of the six kittens must wear small casts to ensure that their tiny legs develop normally. Despite the way their front limbs develop, these adorable little furballs are healthy. However, they will need monthly checks and some extra care until they are healthy enough to walk and run around.
“Each cat in this litter is absolutely gorgeous and cuddly,” the carers wrote on Facebook. “We want to make sure they’re given an opportunity to grow up healthy, happy, and strong.” Despite the fact that we secretly believe their small casts make them even cuter, we want them removed as soon as possible.
