After humans saved their sight, stray kittens born without eyelids couldn’t be happier!
Meet Dora and Felix, her cute brother. These two lovely kittens were happily saved by a caring couple after being found walking by the side of the road in New South Wales, Australia. The pair soon understood that the kittens’ appearance was special. The RSPCA’s Blue Mountains shelter received Dora and Felix right away, and when staff members took a closer look, it was clear that the kittens were born without eyelids.
In his blog post, Patrick Jones of the RSPCA of New South Wales stated that Felix and Dora “were likely to go blind within a year without corrective surgery.” Patrick Jones added, “Thanks to the amazing vets from the Eye Clinic for Animals (in Sydney), the surgery that Felix and Dora so needed was made possible.”
Amazingly, the kittens recovered well from surgery with new eyelids and were as happy as can be. At the age of 9 months, Dora and Felix are still in need of a permanent home. Their foster carer would be glad to have the two adopted together, but Jones continued, “They would also survive on their own.”
