The cat clings on the 14-year-old boy for dear life when he dives into the overpass to save it from the bridge
A 14-year-old boy ran to save a cat that was hanging off a highway bridge. The tabby held to his savior and wouldn’t let go since he was so grateful of being saved.
Erin Brown was taking her son Gavin to a birthday celebration on Sunday, February 12, when she saw something that made her scream in shock. In front of them, a moving car threw a cat out a window. Her son, Gavin, jumped out of the vehicle as she came to a stop to get to the cat and signalled for oncoming cars to stop.
According to Brown, who spoke with Love Meow, “he went to the highway right by me and got on top of the overpass preparing to leap down. He was in shock watching the cat crash the pavement and scurry all over the highway.”
Gavin leaped out of the vehicle, dashed to the bridge, and grabbed the scared cat. Not sure if I’m more shocked by my son rushing out of my car into the highway and diving onto an overpass to rescue a cat or the cat being thrown out a moving vehicle’s window on 196.
The trauma caused the cat to breathe heavily. He tried to hold the pavement so tightly that his nails were torn out. He immediately curled himself in Gavin’s arms, and Gavin held him close while giving him continuous petting to reassure the cat that we wouldn’t harm him.
Lucky was carried to BluePearl Animal Hospital, where the nurses began treating him and giving him painkillers. “Gavin struggled to let go of his newborn. He and the cat instantly connected, and he became a hot emotional mess.”
Later, a kind person found their tale on Facebook and offered to cover a big portion of the hospital costs. Gavin was so moved by the thoughtful act that he began to cry. “Then, in order to get the amount closer, he said, “I’ll also offer the $63 I have to pay for my new kitten to go with that.” My thankfulness suddenly exploded in my chest “Brown said.
At his new home, Lucky is growing and making a full comeback. The two friends formed a strong bond. Lucky is aware that Gavin saved him, and the closeness between them is something I simply cannot put into words, Brown added. “I have yet to meet a cat as sweet as Lucky! He is very laid-back, fun, and simply adorable!” The brave young man has a soft spot in his heart for animals and has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. He is now committed to making it happen.
