After being hit by a car a couple uses their wedding savings to save their cat’s life!
WALES – A couple whose cat was ran over completely heartbroken them used their wedding savings to pay the vet expenses. Mike Walker and Michelle Blakeley, who are both from Rhyl in Denbighshire, Wales, have already spent their money to pay for Matisse’s emergency care, and they expect extra fees.
The newly engaged couple, who are both 31 years old, explain they “don’t mind” if their wedding preparations are postponed because their loved cat is “part of the family.” The family of Matisse, who is seven months old, says they will do whatever it takes to ensure his recovery even though he may need to have surgery to fuse his pelvis to his spine and lose one of his legs.
Michelle told MailOnline how her daughter Rebecca found Matisse last Sunday. “He had dragged himself off the road and she found him on the front door,” Michelle said. He was wet from the rain and in such a state. On Sunday, we took him to the emergency vet. He received a lot of painkillers and an intravenous drip. I cried all night and was unable to sleep.
Michelle and Mike, who planned to getting married within the following two years, didn’t think twice about using their money to cover the cost of treatment. “We didn’t consider it, Michelle said. We simply took the cash out since, in the end, I’m saving his life and he’s a member of the family.”
We now need to secure funding because we both wiped out our accounts. We’re getting a loan because they won’t accept monthly payments. “We don’t have anything left at this point. We’ve used everything we have and are attempting to seek the aid of family members.” I am aware of the amount of the sum.
Michelle responded, “As long as Matisse is happy and he’s alive and fighting fit, I don’t mind at the end of the day,” when asked if she had any problems about postponing their wedding. He is the focus of the situation, and making him happy comes before us. There is nothing we can do if we have to leave [the wedding], therefore we must. Currently, Michelle and Mike are working to raise funds to help with paying for Matisse’s medical care.
