Cat Who Lived In A Cardboard Box Realizes What It’s Like To Feel Cozy
When Marcy’s family was forced to evacuate last summer, they left her behind and moved out, leaving her on her own outside. She took refuge in an old cardboard box in a neighbor’s yard and stayed there for several months before someone decided in December that she couldn’t stay there any longer. Rebecca McGinn was celebrating her niece’s birthday at her brother’s house when he informed her that a cat had been living in his yard. She went outside to see if Marcy would let her approach her and instantly fell in love.
As soon when she spotted Marcy, sick and homeless, McGinn knew she was taking her home. “I decided to adopt her as she was inside a soggy cardboard box, shivering and had sore eyes,” McGinn told The Dodo. “She came up for pets as soon as she saw me and was so sweet and affectionate.”
Marcy was in bad shape when McGinn first brought her in. She had eye problems, worms, pneumonia, a lung infection, and skin problems that caused her fur to fall out in clumps after being examined by a veterinarian. Everyone knew how long Marcy’s road to recovery would be, but McGinn was just happy to see her and show her what it was like to live in a warm home with a loving family. According to McGinn, she immediately made herself at home and cuddled up to sleep for days.

Marcy was overjoyed to finally have soft, cuddly places to curl up on after everything she had been through, and she is now addicted to all things cozy. “The thing she loves the most is cuddling up with me and my partner,” McGinn said. “She’s completely obsessed with blankets and people.” She enjoys being tucked in and wrapped up. She spends 99 percent of her time on or in a soft blanket!”

“She has the most nurturing, pleasant personality,” McGinn said. “She is extremely clingy and enjoys all of the attention.” She is so friendly and trustworthy with everyone.”
