The Cat Who Made a Metro Station Her Home
The Taksim Metro Station Cat is the name given to this calm calico cat in honour of the location where she currently lives. Over the course of more than three years, this colourful cat has made the station and escalators her home.
As you can see, she spends much of her time in Istanbul’s Taksim Metro, typically near the top of the escalator. She enjoys travelling on the moving walkway as well! Every time she feels bored or the want to get up and move around, she jumps on this enjoyable ride.
She enjoys when passengers want to take pictures of her because she is so beautiful and sometimes even makes a pose. She never goes without food since someone is always available to meet her needs.
She has many of nice spots for naps… even if it means interrupting commuter traffic!
The majority of the street cats in Istanbul are carefully cared after by the locals. They’re not pets, but they’re also not feral, the community cares for them and even takes them to the vet when necessary.
