A Kind Couple Changes the Lives of Kittens Left in a Parking Lot
Nala and Simba were left outside a university parking lot in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA, when a student saw them and realized they needed help. He took them to his bedroom and, with the help of a bottle, tried to feed them every two hours during the day, and they divided the tasks despite their different days of study. Lindsay Haglund of Coastal Bend Cat Rescue says, “He soon realized their need for help, as they sat in the Texas sun without a mother.”
The young couple studied the newborns’ needs and worked to keep them safe. Realizing that providing all of the attention that the cats require would be challenging, they contacted the Coastal Bend Cat Rescue and breeding facility. “We were really surprised with how effectively the university students cared for Nala and Simba when they were placed with one of our newborn foster families,” Lindsay says. The kittens were healthy and well-fed.”
It takes a miracle to keep newborn kittens alive, especially if you’re new with bottle feeding. Lindsay claims that they told the students that they had saved the lives of Nala and Simba and that they should be very proud of themselves. They were more active and ran all over the place following stomach treatments, so their foster mother built them a small house.
Nala and Simba were soon running and climbing everywhere, their wicked personalities growing. Over time, both kittens recovered, and their weight continued to rise, and tiny Simba was able to escape the bottle. Despite the fact that both cats can feed from a dish, Nala expects care and a bottle as if she were a baby. They are content in their foster home for the time being; their purrs can be heard throughout the house, and they like battling one another.
When they’ve had plenty, they return to their comfortable, big bed for a well-needed nap. “This story is a genuine example of how community members who save animals can make a major difference,” the rescue facility’s staff said. Nala and Simba will be ready to find a permanent home through The Cattery Cat Shelter shortly, but for now, they are pleased in their foster home.
